About Us
Ultimate was first played in Turkey in Istanbul, starting in early 2007 by an amateur group mostly consisting of foreigners. In the following years, as the number of teams formed by university students and graduates increased, the Spirit of the Game Association (ORD) was established in 2011 to bring together developments in Frisbee in Turkey under one roof and to simplify communication channels. The association continues its existence with the aim of promoting and spreading Ultimate Frisbee, organizing training activities and sports competitions in this field, and contributing to the development of this sport both nationally and internationally.
What is the Spirit of the Game
It forms the foundation of Frisbee sport. Players acting as referees is made possible by the spirit of the game. In short, it is a system that guides players to be impartial, communicate respectfully with the opposing team, maintain positive attitudes, and know the rules. It is based on the principle that players should not knowingly violate the rules. It establishes sportsmanship in the game within a written framework. The Spirit of the Game Circle: After each match, players come together and review the positions in the match. The opposing team is congratulated, good things are celebrated, and constructive feedback is given.
At the end of the match, both teams score each other on the spirit of the game according to the criteria and scoring table specified in the rules. At the end of the tournament, a "Spirit of the Game" champion is determined based on the total scores. This award is considered equal to first place.
